Attention all Brunswick riders!

Saturday 18th August is your chance to ride in honour of one of Brunswick’s most important clubmen. Do not miss the Pop Stewart Memorial handicap.

“I remember well my first meeting with Pop Stewart. It was my first ever bike race as a 14 year old at Mickleham Rd. Pop was the handicapper, he put me off limit and I finished last, but I remember well his encouragement to come back the next week and try again. I guess I’m still coming back for more 40 odd years later, I owe him a lot!!!! I think one of Pop’s great qualities was his equal treatment to all, whether you were an Australian Champion or riding off limit, he had time for everyone. Pop was a long serving handicapper with Brunswick and also was handicapper for the VACU (Pre VCF and CSV) for several years. He was a great servant to both Brunswick and Victorian Cycling.” Richard McCorkell

SENIORS

It will be run on 3 laps of the Balliang granite Hill circuit (including 3 km’s of Gravel!). Registration at Balliang 9.00-9.45 AM. A very impressive memorial trophy is up for grabs for the first Brunswick rider over the line as well as minimum $500 prizemoney. On line entry essential- link on Combine website below.NOTE: Combine Volunteers currently on roster have exclusive entry from 9pm Sunday until 9PM Monday then all can enter.Remember to pre-enter before 9pm Wednesday.

J17′s can not race with the seniors for this handicap

JUNIORS

Handicap will be run for juniors from Balliang Hall after senior  scratch has started~10.30AM. Register by 10.00AM so that handicaps can be determined. No preentry required, $5 entry on day distances TBC upon entries.
