We have got an email from one of our members:

My son (and family) have been thoroughly enjoying the Junior Track Clinics for almost a year now and would like to give something back to the BCC community who have provided such a great time for James. I bought a family ticket to the Thursday evening session by mistake (didn’t pay enough attention to the Ticketek website order process). With School Holidays next week, we are away for the week and can’t use. Rather than going to waste or reselling – I’d like to give to another family to use. Failing that, two adults can use the tix and go sans kids.I have Ezytickets so can email them. Just need to be printed out. Happy to email them to you if you think you’ll be able to find a home for them. If not, I can offer elsewhere. Just don’t want them to go to waste.

Please contact Glenn Mountain if you can use the tickets – it would be great if someone from the clinic can use them

Fast & Technical: Just how Brunswick Juniors Like it!

H. Hart, Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Castlemaine, the hot rod capital of Victoria, played host to the State Junior Criterium Champs on Sunday. Brunswick was well represented and performed exceptionally well in the early junior grades… In fact, they took home wins in the three grades they contested!

First off, Sarah Gigante in the JG13s. Sarah is an even better rider now she’s sorting out her breathing issues and this was clear to all as she rode a smart race as part of a two-girl break with Georgia Cummings. The two girls put a big distance into the chasing pack and Sarah used all her nous and race craft, learnt on the track on a Tuesday night, to take out the sprint for a our first gold.

Congratulations Brunswick Women!

Admin, Sunday, March 25th, 2012

Well done Brunswick Women on a great effort during the Women’s Grand Prix crit series. Team Brunswick finished in an impressive 7th out of 17 teams. The team consisted of Emma Pane and Rebecca Williamson both completing all 4 rounds, Nonie Carr completing 2 rounds and the following SKCC members Sue Cox (3 rounds), Kerri Baumgartner and Von Micich (each 1 round). Thank you.

Congratulations to Emma Pane for taking out the best Division 2 rider for the series and a 4th place finish in the final round.

Watch out for next year.

Bec Williamson.

RHTBE challenge set to a roll out in April

Admin, Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Australia’s Ride Hard to Breath Easy and Strava are hosting the first ever month-long international cycling challenge starting on 1 April this year (it’s not an April Fools joke).
This free internet-based event is designed to encourage cyclists at all levels to get on their bikes at whatever level – whether a raw beginner or commuter wanting to gain fitness, or a competitive cyclist.

Ride Hard to Breath Easy is a non-profit organisation which raises awareness for lung cancer sufferers through cycling, and Strava is like Facebook for cyclists.

RHTBE is the brainchild of Victorian cyclist Karen Munro, who suffered from lung cancer and passed away in September last year.

Karen had never smoked, but made it her mission to raise awareness of the fact you don’t have to be a smoker to suffer from lung cancer.

Spills, Splinters, Hearts & Lungs

C. McFarlane, Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

A few of our Juniors have had a bit of bad luck the past week, Luke Plapp has broken his arm, Issac Gibbs and Ian Herman got up close and personal with the boards last night, Issac has some souvineer splinters and Ian got to spend the night being “observed” at the Austin Hospital. Another Tuesday regular, Lewis Slingsby also hit the boards last night with no major damage.

Hope the skin grows back quicly guys!

In the “senior” ranks we have Alan Grindal recovering from quadruple bypass and some valve replacements, Alf is looking better as each day passes and Fred Pane is on the way back after a heart attack last Sunday.

Crikey it’s been a busy time!

Get well and get back on everyone!!!!

Thank you all for your prayers, praise the lord for they have been answered, Alf is great and now so am I. He has just had dinner and has popped his mask on and has my pen in his hand going over club team results, am enjoying the happy tears at the moment, so much nicer than the tears I’ve cried this week. Oxygen levels imprpving every test and peeimg up a storm. Long way to go but the best he has been so far. Thank you.
