This coming Saturday Brunswick Cycling Club on behalf of Northern Combine are running a 77 km road handicap in honour of John Sewell. John was a rider and hardworking club member for Brunswick. It is held on the picturesque and challenging Balliang -Granite Hill circuit (featuring 3 kms of gravel). Registration at Balliang Hall ( Balliang- Bacchus Marsh Rd) . Pre enter early (click  here) to ensure your place- entries close at 9pm Wednesday night. For more information go to Northern Combine website. -Remember  scratch by 12 PM Friday or you must pay entry.

Juniors  just need to turn up to race.

Stage 1 – Lancefield Loop x3 90km
My Queens Birthday weekend started with an hour and a half drive from home to the Lancefield footy ground, all the while looking at and memorising chemistry cue cards for my ever looming mid-year VCE chemistry exam. Upon arriving at the football field there was a frenzy of faces that I hadn’t seen in quite a long time. As the bunch rolled off I had my fingers and toes crossed that I would be able to hold on to the pace of the bunch, I spent the first two of the three laps sitting in the bunch trying to conserve as much energy as possible.

Combine and Brunswick Individual Time Trial Championships at Balliang
Date: Saturday, 21st May 2011
Test yourself in the race of truth. Handicap included where you nominate your time. Prizemoney Min $500 and club and combine medals!

Distance: 24.1 Kms (1 Lap) and age appropriate distances ie J13  8k / J15 10k

Stages are Saturday Lancefield and Sunday/Monday Kyneton.

Three grades made up of around 18 juniors who went around (and around) the 2.8km Calder Park Raceway on a an overcast Saturday after the Northern Combine seniors had done their thing. The seniors had the better of conditions as a stiff breeze picked up for the young guns who pushed into it up the long Calder back straight. Brunswick was well represented and after a count back loss in the main event, The Tom Probert Teams Challenge (Italo won), the Brunswick juniors where keen to have crack…
