Training this Thursday set to “Turn” it up!

C. McFarlane, Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

This Thursdays training session will focus on the art of the “turn” in Team Pursuiting.

Those who have come along on Thursday and Saturday have recorded some standing and flying 250m times, worked out if a straight line or staggered start formation suits them best as well as understanding some of the rules of the events.

The warm up starts at 6 so be ready to rock and roll!

If there are any U17′s etc who would like to fine tune their slings and tactics for Ballarat I will run through a session afterwards.

C. McFarlane, Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Don’t forget that the Junior training that was on Tuesday has moved to Thursdays, at Harrison St and let’s kick things off at 6.

There is another change, these Thursday sessions will also cater for elites etc.

With this Thursday being the Australia Day Holiday is anyone interested?

The focus will be on preparing for the Club Teams Champs.

Being a holiday I am putting a 6 rider minimum for a start, so email me camngeorge@hotmail.com if you are coming

I will post a notice on Wednesday if it’s a yes or no.

Triple 50 Saturday Racing

C. McFarlane, Friday, December 9th, 2011

To celebrate the awesome help we recieve at our Saturday arvo racing everything is going to be 50 laps!

That’s 10 miles in the old language and it kicks off at 2pm with the paced warm up where we start at 35 and gradually wind it up to 45…(maybe 50 if you’re feeling frisky)

Then it’s the points race and to make it “racey” the first 3 sprints will be every 10 laps then it’s every 5! Remember the bike will stay at 35-40 so you can have a crack at getting a lap.

Ever raced a 50 lap elimination? A rider will be eliminated every 5 laps.

Finishing with another 50 lap Madison

$5 to race, $2 a snag or vegie burger, beveridges  and condiments at GFC prices.

Don’t forget, if you don’t pedal something in the 80′s you’re gunna go real slow

Tuesday Juniors Play with their Recovery

C. McFarlane, Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Recovery sessions can take many forms and yesterday the Tuesday Juniors “played” during theirs.

After our customary warm up we first walked through some sprint basics discussing possible scenarios and options then jumped on the bikes to try them.
High, low, fast and slow, they practised most of the common tactics they will encounter this season, they also rolled through a few of the possible entry lines for a flying 200.
Before you knew it the hour was up and after a 10 minute cool down they were ready for racing.
Next week we will doing it again, yes we know it’s cup day but unlike the “stayers” who will be participating at Flemington we will be working on our explosive 10 second stuff.

See you all at 4.30
