Brunswick Cycling Club races with the Northern Combine over winter. Races are held Saturday mornings at various locations. Please check the Northern Combine web site for race information. On Saturdays when there is no Combine race scheduled, Brunswick will be running club racing with the Macedon Ranges Cycling Club. These races will start at 1pm at various locations. There is no Northern Combine racing this Saturday 18 May due to the Metro Champs being run at Harcourt. However, Dave and Alf will be running a session at Diggers Rest for anyone who is interested. It will start at 10am from Crinnion Road.
This Sunday, 5 May, will see the second Club Road Teams training session run. The session will start at 10am at the Upper Loop, Yarra Boulevard Kew (where the Hawthorn Crit Races are, loop just north of Johnson St). This session has been designated as a Seniors (U19/Elites/Masters) session, however all members are welcome. Last Saturday saw the Club Teams training sessions kick off successfully, with 14 Juniors participating in a 2 hour session at Yarra Boulevard. They were taken through various aspects of racing a team time trial including how to work turns, manage a team with different abilities, u-turns and more.
All Brunswick juniors who are u13 or older are encouraged to enter in this tour which has run since 1988. Mitch Docker current Orica-Greenedge rider won the tour in 2002 as an Under 17! This tour to use grades rather than age groups. Important handicap information: A Grade: this is only available to U17M because of distances B Grade: U17M, U17W , U15M C Grade: U17W, U15M, U15W D Grade: U13 W&M The final decision on grades will be made by handicapper Alf Walker. Rollout and race distances: All riders must use their correct aged rollout regardless of their grade. Riders are unable to register in grades where distances are beyond Cycling Australia rules. Online entries available on Wednesday and numbers will be capped. The first of the BCC Club Teams Training sessions is this coming weekend - Saturday 27th April. Meet at the Upper Loop, Yarra Boulevard Kew (just off Johnston St, where the Hawthorn Crit is run), with the session to start at 10am.
