Race Release Guidelines

A racing member of the Brunswick Cycling Club from time to time may seek a release to race with another club.

While racing with one’s home club should be encouraged at all times, sometimes riders will need to race elsewhere.

When a race release is required:

A release is only required to race on the same day that the Brunswick Cycling Club holds racing. In the case of the road season, when the Northern Suburbs Combine races. This does not include open racing where a release is not required.

A race release is made for only one day and a specific race.

Reasons a race release may be granted:

  1. If a rider is out of town and it is logistically not possible to make it to the Brunswick Cycling Club race a release is not strictly required. If however a rider chooses to travel to a race out of town then a release is required.
  2. A rider may be out of town, for a duration with work or family commitments. In this instance a release for a period of time may be granted. Though being away from home again may not strictly be required. (This is the only instance where a release for more than a single event may be granted)
  3. A special race of significance to the rider is on with another club. Usually memorial races, but not always.
  4. The rider has been invited to race with the host club for a specific race of some significance. Excluding other club’s three day tours.

How to apply for a race release:

  1. Confirm with the host club that you will be able to race with them.
  2. Contact the Brunswick Cycling Club officials (president or secretary) to ask for a race release.
  3. Explain why you wish to gain a release for this race.
  4. If approved, get a copy of the release to take on the day to the host club. Must be handed to their secretary or the handicapper.
