Sunday Junior Clinic
The Brunswick Cycling Club Novice Junior Clinic was established by the late Henry Hill around 1948 and its aim was to provide cyclists under the age of 16 the coaching and environment to learn the art of track racing. The reason for this was that cyclists under the age of 16 were unable to compete due to the rules at that time.
Clinic starts at 9am sharp – so arrive early to register and get fitted for a bike. It’s just $5 per family for three-hours of good times. You’ll also need a license for the season, which will set you back either $10 or $50 – depending on your age.
Every kid will get to do the famous Alan Grindal Challenge (can you break 30 seconds?) and then get three races and lots of training on the day. Races will include scratch races, handicaps, points races, flying 200s, sprints and team events like pursuits and team sprints.
Where: Brunswick Cycling Club, Roberts Reserve, Harrison St, Brunswick. (enter via Donald St)
When: Starts Sunday, 6th November 9am to 12-noon – then every Sunday till the end of March 2012 (with a break over Christmas)
